Conference Weekend

I loved Conference weekend! It was pretty
much a party at our house. In conferences past I've sometimes found myself very angry... trying to listen to our prophet and apostles while young children are not letting me. So this year I was prepared.

Here the kids are enjoying their conference coloring packets sent home from Primary.

And here they are enjoying the treat game. Each bowl had different candies with a word such as "Jesus" or "Church." They got to eat one treat out of a bowl if they heard that word said in the meeting.

Daddy helping Margaret hear the right words.

Most pictures of Abigail don't completely look like her, in my opinion. This one does. This is a great picture of our sweet newborn- a week and a half.

And this one fell asleep at some point while watching her own show downstairs. It was definitely camera worthy!

Sunday we spent at Ryan's folk's house where we enjoyed our traditional conference brunch with Mom and Dad and Josie and Josh. Eggs Benedict, Cheesy Potatoes and Bacon, Poppyseed Bread, Strawberries and Orange Juice. After Conference we went to our nephew, James's (Jason and Bec), baby blessing. Mama snapped a picture of us before heading out the door.

I love the Spirit I always feel during conference. Our Prophet and Apostles are so good, so righteous, so full of love. Can't wait for the conference ensign so I can remember all of the talks. Hope you all enjoyed the weekend too!

  1. what a cute family picture! you guys are so stinking official.

we also got to have some fun conference festivities with the bain's over on saturday. it was a blast! i'm so grateful we have some family semi-close. there really is something awesome about making conference a big party with food and company and wonderful talks. love it.

although, i have to say, i found myself a little more in the angry category than i have in past years. it wasn't from the bains (haha!), but from my own kids on sunday when we were all by ourselves. in the past i've been really good about being understanding and flexible with them, but this year i found myself flustered and annoyed. not sure why. i think it had to do with a lack of sleep and lack of preparation (not getting them up early enough to be dressed and fed before things started (we're at 9am here). who knows? anyways... i'll try and remember that and do better in 6 months.

but yes, conference was wonderful! i'm so, so grateful to be able to hear the words of a living prophet and apostles. we are blessed!

i'm loving all your posts! and can't wait to SEE YOU SOON!!

  2. I have to admit that I stared at your family picture, noting your perfect hair, clothes, even earrings, and was completely amazed--really, conference Sunday?! Was this also a part of the Strong family tradition? And then I read about the baby blessing. Oh yes. Maybe that explains how gorgeous you all looked!!!! (I gave up on "Sunday dress" for conference a long time ago. I distinctly remember someone remarking that the best part of conference was being able to go to church in your pajamas!)

Anyway, my only complaint about conference is that it never lasts long enough. I'm glad you found the tricks to a better experience for everyone. Maybe I'll pull out the candy bowls next time :)

  3. What a beautiful picture of a beautiful family! I don't know how you could pull it altogether...and isn't it fun that you could go to Ryan's family to enjoy Conference together. I'm anxious for the Ensign to come to so I can study the talks. Love you all!

  5. I love that last picture of your family-it's so cute! Okay, so that picture of Abigail totally looks like a Strong baby...not sure if it's Jo...or Maggie...or Atticus...maybe a combination of all three of them in her cute little face-but she definitely is one of you!
