Oh how far I've come. This is our pet black widow. Jo affectionately named her Jaqualina. I caught her a few weeks ago thinking she was dead. Wanted to show the kids a black widow for safety reasons. But once in the jar she became VERY much alive. And scary.
We fed her a fly one day. She devoured it.
I know I promised people coming into town that she'd be dead before they got here... but today is Julie day... and our pet still lives. I am sorry. She's too scary for me to kill. Thus, she has become apart of our family out of my own cowardice.
That is freaking sick. Blegh! You are brave for catching it though - especially after it turns out it was alive! Maybe you could drop something skinny and really heavy in the far in the hopes of squishing it without getting your hands too close. Or you could always spray spider killing spray in to immobilize it at the least and then squish it. I'm seriously sicked out. There's my ideas though. :)
